What's New?

This section lists new features, enhancements, and issue resolutions included in Halo. For more detailed information on product features, please refer to our Online Help system by signing on to Halo Enterprise Manager and clicking the 'Help' button.

Halo Enterprise Manager

Accounting Export

  • When exporting data to PeachTree, Halo now reports Service Charges as a separate line. Previously, Service Charges were simply added to the Gross Revenues amount. (2123)

Add/Change Accounts

  • For companies with large numbers of Revenue Centers, starting the 'Add/change accounts' editor should now be noticeably faster. (2655)

Job Codes

  • Deactivating a Job Code assigned to a user with multiple Job Codes would sometimes prevent that user from being able to sign on to Halo POS. This issue has been resolved. (2373)

Performance

  • A number of improvements have been made to the Halo Enterprise Manager that should result in great performance improvements throughout the application, particularly for customers with large numbers of Revenue Centers.

Rebooting

  • After rebooting a Halo POS Terminal, some users may have encountered a 'Catastrophic Error' message that would require the user to restart Halo. This issue has been resolved. (2506)

Reporting

  • In the Cashout Report, return totals may not have matched the corresponding POS Employee Cashout Report return amounts for some users. This issue has been resolved. (2409)
  • Performance has been significantly improved for the Halo Community Zata report. Generating this report should now take under 30 seconds for all companies. (2663)
  • Performance has been significantly improved when generating any Enterprise Manager report over large date ranges.
  • Since May 2007, some employee tips may not have been appearing on the Labor Report. This issue has been resolved. (2386)
  • The current Date and Time now appear at the top of all Halo Enterprise Manager reports. (2257)

SSL

  • Furthering our efforts to ensure the security of your data, the Halo Enterprise Manager Web site now uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. In order to accommodate this change, the Halo Enterprise Manager Web site has changed to the following address:

    https://secure.myhalo.com

Your existing bookmarks will continue to function, but for future compatibility it is recommended to update them to the new address. (2206)

Stores Configuration

  • A new 'ScaleAutoConfirm' Control Option has been added to the Stores Configuration editor. When adding Menu Items with a Price per lb/kg to a check, this Control Option determines whether the user is prompted to confirm the weight read by the attached scale. This Control Option has two settings:
    • 0: All users will be prompted to confirm weights. This is the default option and will result in the same behavior as existed previous to this release.
    • 1: Halo accepts the weight read by the scale and adds the Menu Item to the check without further confirmation.

    (2191)

Store Selection

  • On the Store Selection tab, Halo Enterprise Manager now allows you to select up to 100 Revenue Centers at one time. This is an increase from the previous limit of 20 Revenue Centers. (1903)
  • Performance in all Halo Editor operations involving large numbers of Revenue Centers has been significantly improved. Adding new items to large numbers of Revenue Centers from any Halo Editor should no longer time out. (1904)

Synchronization

  • Some customers have experienced problems synchronizing Item and Button changes to their POS Terminals. This issue has been resolved. (1552)
Halo POS

Change

  • Previously, when Canadian customers applied a cash payment using US dollars, the change prompt would also display in US dollars. All change amounts will now display using a store's default currency. (1961)

Close Day

  • While using the Close Day function, managers are now prompted to choose whether they want to print the 'Employee Cashout Report' for any employees being cashed out during the Close Day process. Previously, this report was always printed without prompting for confirmation. (2330)
  • When using the Close Day function, any attached cash drawer will now automatically open if that drawer is either assigned to the user performing the Close Day, or is not assigned to any user. This is intended to make cashing out easier at the day's end. (1970)

Declare Tips

  • When a user declares a tip amount that would result in a negative daily total for that user, Halo will now prompt for additional confirmation. This is intended to safeguard against data entry error that can seriously impact your daily totals. (1839)

Get Prices

  • When using the Get Prices feature to add a Menu Item to a check, Halo would sometimes apply the item's current Price instead of the selected price. This issue has been resolved. (2132)

Integrated Credit

  • Since the Halo Spring '07 Release, some customers would receive 3 receipts when Post Authorizing an Integrated Credit payment. This issue has been resolved. (2408)

Integrated Debit

  • Declined Integrated Debit transactions are now highlighted in red on the Tab Details. This is intended to provide a more visible warning to servers that the Tab still requires payment. (2063)
  • Integrated Debit payment receipts now print the 'Ref:' and 'Chk:' numbers from the Tab and Check associated with the payment. (2119)
  • Integrated Debit payment receipts would previously print a 'Tip:' line, even if tips were disabled for Integrated Debit. This issue has been resolved, and a Tip line now only prints when tips are enabled. (2085)

Locked Checks

  • Since the last Maintenance Update, some users have reported checks becoming randomly locked. This issue has been resolved. (2712)

POS Interface

  • The Halo POS color scheme and logos have been updated to reflect the new Halo brand image. The general functionality and interface of Halo POS remains the same. (2266)

Print Close

  • When using the Print Close function, any attached cash drawer will now automatically open if that drawer is assigned to the user performing the Print Close. If the drawer is not assigned to any user, it will remain closed. This is intended to make cashing out easier at the day's end. (1970)

Repeat

  • Previously, the Repeat button would not duplicate forced modifiers assigned to another forced modifier. This issue has been resolved. (2380)

Scanning

  • Since the last Maintenance Update, scanning in a Menu Item by bar code could cause the Halo application to shut down for some users. This issue has been resolved. (2421)

Set Count

  • When using the 'Carryover Remainder' option of the Set Count feature, an item's count would sometimes miscalculate on subsequent days. This issue has been resolved. (2632)

Table Numbers

  • When entering a Table Number, Halo will now prompt for confirmation when a user enters a number currently in use by another open Tab. This will not affect customers who do not use Table Numbers. (2564)

Taxes

  • For Halo Customers operating in Ontario, the $4.00 RST exemption rule was previously also being applied in cases where the Check Total exceeded $4.00. This issue has been resolved, and all applicable transactions over $4.00 will now be charged RST. (2309)

Training Mode

  • After tendering a check in Training Mode, some users would receive the error message: 'Error, this check has been altered on another terminal'. This issue has been resolved. (2349)
  • Some users have reported transactions appearing in the Halo POS 'System Detail' report that were completed while in Training Mode. This issue has been resolved. (2717)
